Tariffs Expected to Increase HVAC Costs in 2025 — Here’s What Oklahoma Homeowners Should Know

As we approach another hot Oklahoma summer, many homeowners are considering whether it’s time to replace their aging HVAC systems. But there’s a new factor entering the conversation: tariffs on HVAC equipment that are expected to increase HVAC costs.
Yarbrough & Sons Heating, Cooling & Plumbing, serving the greater Oklahoma City metro since 1988, recently spoke with FOX 25 to discuss what homeowners need to know before prices start climbing.
Why Are HVAC Prices Going Up?
While prices haven’t increased yet, manufacturers are signaling that new tariffs may lead to price hikes ranging anywhere from 5% to 20%. These tariffs, being implemented on goods from overseas, will likely affect HVAC equipment, parts, and materials.
“We’re hearing from our manufacturers that price increases are coming. It’s something we’re monitoring day by day,” said Kolby Yarbrough, co-owner of Yarbrough & Sons.
The Window of Opportunity
According to Yarbrough, some manufacturers are holding off on increasing their prices until the market stabilizes. That creates a short window where homeowners can still get systems at the current rate.
“If your system is aging and you’ve been thinking about replacing it, now might be the smartest time to move forward,” said Yarbrough. “The longer you wait, the more likely you are to get caught in the price hikes.”
Recent Changes Are Already Driving Costs
The expected tariffs aren’t the only factor impacting HVAC pricing. A recent national change in refrigerant standards has already increased costs for homeowners and contractors alike.
“Between refrigerant changes and now tariffs, it feels like it’s been one increase after another. We’re doing everything we can to help homeowners make smart, financially sound decisions for their comfort and their home,” Yarbrough added.
Bottom Line: Don’t Wait Until It Hurts
Yarbrough & Sons is encouraging homeowners who are on the fence to get quotes now. There’s no pressure to commit—but knowing where pricing stands today could help you make a more informed, affordable decision.
We’re here to go to bat for our homeowners, and that starts with transparency.
